Have You Ever Wondered What Other Provinces Pay For Insurance Across Canada?

People love to complain about the cost of insurance in Saskatchewan. The purpose of this post is to debunk the myth that we pay more for car insurance than the rest of Canada. Actually, we're pretty average compared to the rest of the provinces when it comes to insurance premiums.

In Canada, it is actually illegal to be driving without insurance, no matter where you are living (yes, even in Lumsden). You have probably heard people complaining about how expensive insurance is in Regina. Or the classic “When I was a kid you could get car insurance for the cost of a Coke!”. The next time you hear someone griping about how bad we have it in Saskatchewan when it comes to the cost of insurance, I want you to send them this post.

In Saskatchewan, we have it good.

Insurance premiums are most high in Ontario, followed by Alberta, New Brunswick, and BC. The provinces that are lucky enough to fork out the lowest dollar amount in insurance premiums are PEI, Newfoundland and Quebec. Saskatchewan is in the middle, around the average.

So in conclusion, stop complaining about high insurance premiums in Saskatchewan. We should be thanking SGI for keeping our premiums at a respectable level.
