I just got into a car accident....Now what?

Recently, I had been in a minor car accident. When the other driver and myself got out of our cars, we realzed that neither of us really knew what to do. I am going to take this opportunity to let you know some guidelines.

  • First and foremost, make sure eveyone is OK.
  • REPORT the accident to the police if their are any injuries or if the vehicle is not driveable. If the vehicles are still able to be driven, move off to the side of the road.
  • REGINA POLICE               306-777-6500
  • RCMP REGINA                  306-780-5560
  • SASKATOON POLICE      306-957-8300
  • RCMP SASKATOON         306-310-7267
  • If the police are not needed you need to make sure you OBTAIN some information about the other party and you give them the same information.
  • Vehicle description and Plate number
  • Driver's name and Phone number
  • Registered owner of the vehicle
  • Insurance Company and Policy number (if they have it)
  • Date and Time
  • Location
  • Any witnesses names and numbers
  • At Galon Insurance we also have this information on cards that you keep with your registration. They are free to everyone.

Most vehicles are insured/registered through SGI. SGI can be contacted directly over the phone or you can submit a claim through their eclaim service online. I used the eClaim option and it was fast and easy.

I hope that none of you have to use this, but if you do, I hope that you find it helpful.

                                         DRIVE SAFE!
